Designed to compliment and not dominate the rolling hills of southern Maryland, this house was divided to 4 pavilions, and set into the hills. On the out- side, with careful massing, these structures could address both a very private entry court to the east, as well as expand to the site, pond and beyond to the hillside to the west. Inside, the various functions found identity in their individual pavilions.

The materials on the outside are simple - white stucco walls and slate roofs. The shapes are simple "house shapes." The real architecture is created inside, between and amongst each pavilion.
